Senior Organizer

About the Role

Minnesota Freedom Fund is seeking a Senior Organizer to support our advocacy strategy through statewide base building, civic engagement, and community education. This role works closely with the Director of Advocacy and Policy to grow and activate a values-aligned base across Minnesota, support campaign goals, and strengthen partnerships with community organizations and coalitions.

This is an ideal role for an experienced organizer who is comfortable translating policy priorities into meaningful community engagement and action.

Experience:

  • Mobilize supporters for hearings, testimony, public comment, and coordinated advocacy actions
  • Track emerging policy issues and enforcement trends to inform strategy and messaging
Statewide Base Building
  • Build and maintain a statewide base through relational organizing and outreach
  • Identify gaps in participation and develop targeted strategies to address them
  • Support leadership development pathways for volunteers and community members, especially those with lived experience
  • Align field activities with legislative timelines and campaign goals
Civic Engagement & Grassroots Organizing
  • Plan and execute canvassing, phone-banking, texting, and other outreach efforts
  • Engage community members in values-based conversations and adapt messaging based on feedback
  • Maintain accurate data and support data-informed organizing practices
  • Capture themes and insights from the field to inform advocacy and communications
Community Education & Outreach
  • Design and facilitate presentations, trainings, and community conversations
  • Support development and updating of educational materials and resources
  • Table at community events and coordinate outreach efforts
  • Deliver education in ways that are inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive
Coalition & Event Support
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners and coalitions statewide
  • Attend coalition meetings and coordinate opportunities for shared action
  • Support planning and execution of advocacy, civic engagement, and community events
Required Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience in community organizing, advocacy, or grassroots campaigns
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
  • Comfort with public speaking and relational organizing
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and coalitions
  • Commitment to equity-centered, trauma-informed organizing
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends and travel statewide as needed
Preferred (Not Required)
  • Lived experience with or close connection to the immigration system
  • Fluency in languages other than English
  • Experience working with immigrant communities or advocacy organizations
  • Familiarity with immigration policy or legislative advocacy
  • Experience with VAN or similar organizing databases
  • Statewide or coalition-based organizing experience
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $64,500 annually
  • PTO: 3 weeks vacation, 11 paid holidays, plus sick/safe time
