Immigration Organizer

About the Role

Minnesota Freedom Fund is seeking an Immigration Organizer to support community education, base-building, coalition engagement, and advocacy related to immigration enforcement, detention, family separation, and broader immigration justice issues.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys relationship-building, grassroots organizing, and working alongside impacted communities to advance shared values around dignity, safety, and justice.

The Immigration Organizer reports to the Director of Advocacy and Policy and works closely with staff, partners, and community leaders across the state.

Experience:

  • Design and facilitate workshops, trainings, and presentations on immigration justice and policy advocacy
  • Build authentic relationships with immigrant-led organizations, faith leaders, and community partners
  • Table at community events and support public education efforts
  • Support community members with lived experience in sharing stories using trauma-informed practices
Grassroots Organizing
  • Plan and support canvassing, phone-banking, and text campaigns
  • Conduct door-to-door and community-based outreach
  • Support and train volunteers engaged in organizing efforts
  • Maintain accurate data and capture themes from community conversations
Events & Advocacy Support
  • Help plan and execute town halls, forums, teach-ins, and advocacy events
  • Support logistics, accessibility, and volunteer coordination
  • Promote events and track participation using tools like Eventbrite, Mobilize, and EveryAction
Required Qualifications
  • Experience in community organizing, advocacy, or movement-based work
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Comfort with public speaking and relational organizing
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and coalitions
  • Cultural competency and ability to engage across difference with respect
  • Will see some evenings/weekends and travel within and outside the metro area
Preferred (Not Required)
  • Lived experience with or close connection to the immigration system
  • Fluency in languages other than English
  • Experience working with immigrant communities or advocacy organizations
  • Familiarity with immigration policy or legislative advocacy
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $61,152 annually
  • PTO: 3 weeks vacation, 11 paid holidays, plus sick/safe time
